High School Contest Rescheduled After Blizzard
Freitag and Miss Rinke with P. W. Hutson and Miss Kester were delayed by a blizzard while en route to Elmore and stayed in Mankato until Saturday night. The contest was postponed, Hutson then arranged for it to be held in this city Friday evening with a small admission fee for expenses.
Nicollet County Equity to Convene March Meeting
The Nicollet County Society of Equity will hold its regular quarterly meeting at Nicollet village on Monday March 1. 26. Two speakers will address the gathering M F Sharp veteran Equity organizer on society questions and Hon H O Bjorge on the Tonnage Tax issue and related opposition. A letter from Mr and Mrs Wm Ebert of Bedford Indiana sends greetings to New Ulm friends and notes weather there as nice with plans for gardens. Mrs Ebert was Miss Falk before marriage.

Opera House Sold for Big Garage Transformation
Frank Kretsch of Kretsch Auto Company became owner of the Opera House building at Broadway and North First in New Ulm. The plan is to convert it into Brown County’s largest garage and automobile salesroom, with interior work starting that morning. The theater will be annexed to the garage and the office and sales room moved into the theatre building. The Opera House, built in 1878 by the New Ulm Arbeiter Verein, long hosted dances and amusements but declined after the Armory and shifting entertainment.

Last Snow Storm Worst of Season Lingers
A severe winter blizzard last week crippled rail traffic and postal service across the region. Snow banks hit thirteen feet in places as a forty mile per hour gale piled the drifts. Minneapolis and St. Louis lines carried little freight or passenger trains for days while officials warn it may take days to return to normal operations. The winter record, already over seventy inches with ten more in the last storm, marks one of the worst seasons in thirty-five years.
