Man Follows Through On Suicide Attempt After House Fire
Herman Lemke a 60 year old resident attempted death by own action by firing his dwelling and shooting himself. A bullet fractured his skull but did not penetrate, and he survived after extraction of the bullet and hospital treatment. Firefighters used chemicals to extinguish a small blaze with limited water and minor building damage.

Passing of Rev. George R Fritze Dated Life of Service
The Rev George R Fritze died last Wednesday at age 88 after a life devoted to ministry. Born in Woodbury in 1868 he preached at Fairfax Alexandria Clearwater Minneapolis Montrose and finally Woodbury. He married Ella B Stott in 1889 and leaves three sons and his sorrowing wife. The community offers heartfelt sympathy.

New Ulm citizens praised the Second Regiment Bend band at Union hall for an evening of ten numbers plus solo performances by Ed Brosky and a band skit. The program featured grand opera selections, overtures, and classics by Verdi and others with notable solos from Henry Kiteberger Albert Schilling and Prof. Boskey. Poor attendance due to cold weather led to plans to repeat the concert soon.

Commercial Union Plans Indian Massacre Anniversary Celebration
At a Friday meeting of the Commercial Union a plan was approved to celebrate the Indian Massacre anniversary in New Ulm with a two to three day program. A committee was formed to organize funding and activities. The park and insurance discussions were also noted and a constitutional dues reduction to two dollars per year was proposed.
