Central heating plant eyed by city officials and business leaders
J L Barnes of the American District Steam Company visited to propose installing a central heating plant using exhaust steam from the city water and electric plants. Proposals cover blocks on Minnesota Street to Center Street and areas to serve schools, courthouse, jail, and Turner Hall. The city council may consider the idea, which promises cheaper heat, better service, reduced dust and fire risk, and added revenue if pursued this year.
