Train Worker Killed By Train Near City
Richard Brittan, a carnival pinman and Wisconsin resident, died when struck near the main line to Mankato while riding an eastbound freight after a night of drinking. Coroner and sheriff identified him. his body scattered along the tracks, remains sent to his mother in Manistee, Michigan. He was a Spanish-American War veteran and former Missouri shipmate pensioner.

Thirty nine candidates were initiated into the Order of Knights of Columbus last Sunday at the Catholic Church auditorium. New Ulm eight, Waseca eight, Seaforth seven, Madelia five, Ivanhoe four, Sleepy Eye two, and one each from Lake itton Tracy Marshall Wabasso and Morgan. First degree by Mankato team at 9 am. second and third degrees from 2 pm. work completed by 3:30. About 350 Knights and ladies attended the festive board with Rev Schlinkert as toastmaster and Mayor L A Fritsche among the speakers.

Bad roads kept attendance light at Sehells Hall for the New Unn Farmer Elevator annual meeting. The secretary reported year end business of 148,359.17 dollars and auditing committee found books in good order. Grain handled included wheat 114,141. rye 24,597. barley 3,859. oats 1,267. flax 2,707 bushels. Coal sales totaled 871 tons hard coal and 1,389 tons soft coal. One director change: Joseph Diepolder retired. New directors elected from each township and officers chosen: Pres Jos Sperl, Sec Herman Pfaender, Treas Henry Simmet. Robert Runek named advisory member. Paul Wandersee kept as manager. Arthur Hillesheim as assistant.

Armory Construction Begins Under New Plans
Weilandt and Stegemann started work on the new armory Monday under revised plans after previously rejected bids. The general contract is awarded for 30,050 dollars with a pitched roof, Ulm brick, and eliminated stage and gallery. J P Kennedy and J Smith arrived to expedite the gas plant work.

Visitors Trim New Ulm Boys at Sleepy Eye Shoot
In a damp Sunday shoot at the Fair Grounds 11:15 a m, Sleepy Eye bested New Ulm by four birds as Springfield failed to appear due to rain. Twelve Sleepy Eye shooters joined local marksmen after several unable to attend, narrowing the field and heightening the effort amid muddy roads. Refreshments followed the event and scores listed show Henry Meyer leading after a rousing session despite weather.

Farmers Suffer Massive Storm Damage Across Milford Area
A powerful storm pounded Milford, Sigel, and Cottonwood Thursday evening, wiping out a long stretch of farm crops with hail up to several inches, downing trees, and flooding streets. Minnesota Militia To Camp At Camp McCoy In July
Orders sent to field officers and company captains for the annual encampment of the Second Infantry Minnesota National Guard. The regiment will camp at Camp McCoy near Sparta Wisconsin from July 6 to July 16, with two regiments this year the First and Second to participate in Wisconsin maneuvers. The Second Regiment Band Co A and the Machine Gap Company will join, aiming for a strong showing after prior joint maneuvers.
