Hanska patriots plan an act to feature F. W. Johnson as speaker for Independence Day festivities. A Dakota House landlord approved the arrangement after a committee from New Ulm engaged him.Johnson will discuss the great way and its teachings and hopes to win broad applause from the crowd if not, friends will be surprised. Camp meetings draw large crowds German Methodist ministers attended with services in German and English attracting 600 to 800 attendees Sunday. Trustees of the M. K. Armstrong bankrupt estate bring two actions against Martha Armstrong seeking judgments totaling 113,650. They claim Armstrong’s residences and the Park Hotel, valued at 13,650 and 100,000 respectively, were fraudulently conveyed to her while he was insolvent, with Martha knowing his condition. Charge lightened for deserter James B. Neal at Fort Snelling
Private James B. Neal, who surrendered to Sheriff Julius after deserting from Co A, Thirty Infantry, will not face the serious charge of desertion. His regimental officers urge leniency and he will be tried for being absent without leave. Neal remains in close confinement at Fort Snelling.
