Storm wrecks towns as Minnesota blackout sinks many

A massive storm swept southern Minnesota last Wednesday, tearing through farms and rural towns with lightning and wind. At Lake Manska a 19 year old was killed. Wenzel Schneberich and Isaac Nelson lost livestock and property. Homes were struck, chimneys shattered, and a rural cloudburst forced families from their houses. Throughout the region near Jackson to Minnesota Lake, Wells, and Sleepy Eye, buildings collapsed or were wrecked, trees uprooted, and trains disrupted. In county towns, civic events and local notices fill the day after the disaster with reports on damages and community responses.
