Likeness of Stranger Found Dead Near Northwestern Tracks
A photograph sent by Mrs. Emma Ackling of Clarissa Minnesota has led Chief Adolph Klause to identify the unknown man found dead beside the Northwestern tracks in New Ulm on May 21. The copy suggests a stocky young man with light wavy hair and a mustache. Mrs. Ackling says the man is her brother who left home a year ago last June. Inquests and local officials view the likeness with cautious optimism, and Klause plans further correspondence to confirm the man’s identity.

Man Drowns Crossing Minnesota River Near Cambria
Fred Roedig a 24 year old farm laborer with wealthy Indiana parents walked into the Minnesota River near Cambria Sunday afternoon and drowned after cramping. He believed he could reach the Nicollet shore about 150 feet away, but disappeared beneath water within feet. His companions recall he joked about the risk and did not seem intoxicated. The body was recovered within ten minutes by a search party led by Sheriff Williams. Roedig had been employed by D L Williams of Cambria and was known for industrious nature though he drank at times. His parents, originally from New Alsace Indiana, are moving to determine burial arrangements, possibly in Indiana. The incident prompted notices and a time change for trains 15 16 29 30 on the Minneapolis St Louis line for the following Sunday.
