Eighteen pupils will graduate at New Ulm high school with commencement exercises at Turner Theatre next Wednesday evening. Assistant State Superintendent Schulz is set to deliver the commencement address. The ceremony marks a gratifying culmination of this year’s work as the graduates prepare to enter the world.
The report outlines sentences and bail for a man known in Gustavus Adolphus and Minnesota circles, details his past academic roles and a classroom incident, and lists commencement speakers and valedictorian Edith Current plus class essays and topics from Selma Lipp to Edward Stadtherr, reflecting a community scene from education to law.
Kauroth of Minnesota Lake was victimized at Mankato Union Station when a stranger heading to Springfield asked for $35 to cover baggage charges. The man offered a $5 bonus for a $40 loan and presented a bogus $2,800 Bank of Southern California check as security. The swindler vanished. the check is worthless.
Professor J. 8. Carlson faced arraignment before Judge Waite in Minneapolis police court on a charge described as being plain drunk. Court records indicate Waite has already issued him a punishment or sentence.
John Martin, alleged La Salle bank robber, faced indictment in St. James district court and was re-arrested on another warrant. He was bound over to the Watonwan county grand jury, then confined in the Blue Earth county jail after an attempted escape using a knife converted into a saw. The planned drainage ditch spanning Redwood and Brown counties will cost 105000 and benefit about 3700 acres. Judge Olsen will adjust damages and assessments before ordering construction of the canal like open dredge work, with about half the main ditch in each county and a start in July.
