Desolate Madison woman fakes name then drowns in Lake Monona
A young woman around 20 who gave the name Mary McLane, later found to be likely Mrs. Percy H. Parker of Springfield Minnesota, jumped from a row boat into Lake Monona at Madison on Saturday night and drowned. She had recently arrived in Madison after a fall and injury months earlier, claimed domestic troubles back home, and left clues in Minneapolis addresses among her belongings. Police consulted Minneapolis authorities but could not learn more.
