Well Known Pioneer Passes Away in Fairfax Community
On Sunday morning at Fairfax a well known pioneer died from paralysis after two years of illness. Funeral held Monday with Revs. Orrock Meierbuchel and Miller leading services in Fairfax and Mad Lake churches. Born 1837 in Westphalia Germany she came to Cincinnati in 1859, married Wm Lammers, endured Indian outbreak captivity, later wed George Rieke and lived near Mud Lake before moving to Fairfax. Seven children survived and she was a devout church member among pioneers who helped blaze Minnesota's early trail.
