At about 9 am on the Fourth a display of fireworks started by youths at the Pioneer Drug Store. Burning punk and Roman Candles set off, creating smoke and danger until Dr. Weiser and traveling man Tom Parish helped suppress the blaze with a chemical, preventing significant damage.
