Brown County Republicans met at Turner Hall to elect delegates and adopt platform. Will Appeal to Gov Johnson over destitute man Rud
A St. Paul dispatch reports that Brown county Minnesota will be urged if Halston Rud fails to respond within forty eight hours to a telegraph from Eau Claire Wisconsin. Rud is said to be destitute and mentally unsound but Brown county authorities dispute this, noting he has relatives in Lake Hanska and a fine home. He prefers roaming and may reach relatives when ready. A historic cannon linked to the 1860 Lincoln Douglas campaign will be used in St Peter's celebration, preserved from Fort Ridge Ty, with a dramatic rally noted.

Church Synod at Mankato Minds Jubilee Preparations
The forty eighth annual session of the German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Minnesota met in Mankato drawing about 150 ministers teachers and lay delegates from forty two congregations New Ulm contributed heavily highlighted by Rev Prof John Schaller. Reports noted success of the New Ulm Lutheran Normal school and the Gemeinde Blatt with 10000 subscribers and 5500 income. Mission funds for Apache Indians in Arizona totaled 5281 with 5262 spent. A boarding school for Indian children and new sent missionaries were urged. A church extension fund was proposed and referred due to state banking laws. Treasurer Gundlach of Elysian resigned due to ill health. John Boock Jr. elected to replace him. Trustees named include Albrecht Retzlaff Winter Schweppe and Buelow. Committees prepared for the synod’s fiftieth anniversary in 1909 and the Luther College silver anniversary in New Ulm. Willow Lake congregation’s synod affiliation remained unsettled between Minnesota and Missouri.

Dr Hoidales Narrow Escape From Flooded Road
Tracy physician Dr A D Hoidale narrowly escaped death during a fierce rainstorm when his coupe left the road and plunged ten feet into a swollen torrent after a bridge washed away. He freed himself by breaking through windows and swimming to shore as his horses drowned. Frank Smasal seized the Anton Kachelmeier saloon and residence, moving into the former Smasal site.
