Poultry Show Claims Big Success At New Ulm

The New Ulm Poultry Association held its second annual show with over five hundred birds entered. Silver cups went to Leiter Poultry Farm of New Ulm and J. W. Kollmann of Mankato. D. E. Hale of Rochester judged fairly. Numerous class prizes followed for Barred Plymouth Rocks, White Plymouth Rocks, Wyandottes, Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, Brahmas, Leghorns, Minorcas, Anconas, and bantams.

Postmasters Meet at Sleepy Eye With Banquet

Fourth class postmasters led by F S Pollard Axel Newdall and W C Heimann gathered at Sleepy Eye Tuesday evening for association business and a banquet at the Smalley hotel. John T Boylan of Chicago gave the main address,讲 outlining duties and the parcels post. Next meeting planned for Sleepy Eye in July with expected postoffice officials.

Fire in Gebser Building Causes Smoke Damage

A Sunday morning basement fire in the Gebser building on Minnesota Street caused heavy smoke damage, mainly to the Columbia Clothing Co stock valued at $25,000 with $3,000 insurance. Firefighters contained the blaze an hour after discovery, with Dr. Beil escaping via a second‑floor window. Gebser’s loss near $1,000. Knights of Pythias and Dr. Bell rooms largely spared.

Young Lover Jilting Ends in Tragedy in Springfield

Sleepy Eye Milling Company Receiver Appointed in Bankruptcy

Creditors petitioned for a hearing and were granted one in federal circuit court. Judge Purdy named Louis K. Hull of Minneapolis as receiver to take over property. Accounts place assets at 1.3 million and liabilities at 700 thousand. The case, filed in St Paul, involves First National Bank of St Paul and Security and German American banks as petitioning creditors. Hull will assume control to preserve trade and goodwill for Sleepy Eye Milling, which operates a 5,000 barrel mill at Sleepy Eye and 27 grain elevators in MN and ND. Officers listed include A. C. Von Hagen president, Hans Mo secretary, O. W. Hagen treasurer.
