Turners of State Meet in New Ulm
The fiftieth Minnesota Turnbezirk state convention will be in New Ulm on March 11 and 12 with about thirty delegates and an equal number of visitors. Delegates from the local Turnverein were elected and lectures by Martin Bunge are planned for the eve of the sessions. The convention opens Saturday at 10 a.m. and closes Sunday afternoon at Turner Theatre. Personal property taxes become delinquent March 1 with slow collections so far.

Youthful hunter shoots playmate on rural farm
A 12 year old, Eldred Gieseke, was severely injured in a hunting accident on the old Hermann Kuehnel farm near New Ulm in Nicollet county. A .22 rifle misfired during target practice, the shell exploded after a nail was used to pry it free, the bullet entering the right side and perforating the intestines four times. An X-ray locating the bullet showed it skidded along the spinal column before lodging. Gieseke underwent surgery and is reported improving at Union hospital while Rufus Taylor faced initial distress after removal of the bullet.
