Judge George Ross Dies After Brief Illness
Probate Judge George Ross of Brown County died at his South Broadway home after a brief illness. A resident for about ten years, he had remained active in his office at the courthouse until about ten days before his death. The passing came with less than two days of warning, following a decline after a grip like illness. He and his family moved to New Ulm from Springfield years ago, and his death ends a long probate tenure.

George J Ress longtime county official and probate judge died suddenly in Springfield Minnesota at age 72 He was born in Prussia in 1853 and came to America with his parents in 1858 He served as county commissioner 1902 and later probate judge He is survived by a wife five children and nine grandchildren and was active in Knights of Columbus Catholic Order of Foresters and other groups Funeral held at Holy Trinity Church with escort by the Ex Regiment Band.

City council settles with injured boy and disallows extra bill
At an adjourned meeting the council confirmed a settlement with John Fussner over his 10 year old son's injuries from a loose electric wire near South Minnesota Street. The city pays $381.45 including medical expenses. Fussner releases all claims. The council also disallowed a $560.42 extras bill from Healey Plumbing & Heating for the State Street water works extension. A new railroad side track contract was prepared. Lease for Fire Engine House No. 3 property renewed for five years at $1 total. The council adjourned to March 6.

Memorial Service for Dr Naumann at College
Memorial services were held Sunday evening at the Dr Martin Luth College chapel for Rev August Naumann longtime chairman of the Board of Trustees whose death occurred at his home in St Paul. The chapel was filled with friends and the program featured vocal and instrumental music including the college choir. Prof A Ackerman president of the college gave the principal address reflecting on Naumann life spent in church and college work. New time is to have an auto show Merchants in the dry goods line have discussed it for years and the South Side Auto Co plans an auto show with arrangements under way. They anticipate announcing dates early next week and have placed advertising space in the next Review.
