With heatless Mondays concluded, New Ulm review shows a small coal saving from shutting business district heat. Superintendent Mueller notes up to two tons daily saved, heat mainly a by-product of light and power. December heat revenue reached 1700 dollars and January 1800, covering coal costs.

Incoming Army Recruits Prep At Iowa Camp Barracks Ready
The 8th division prepares for 15 000 new men from the 23rd to the 28th with quarantines and dual vaccination for smallpox and typhoid. Barracks are readied with reception, dining, kitchen, recreation and sleeping quarters for 250 per building. Training proceeds outdoors after preliminary examinations while quarantine lasts two weeks. Also noted is a discharge of a guard duty violator facing severe penalties.
