Citizens of New Ulm plan a 50th anniversary Golden Jubilee for the Indian Outbreak. A committee will organize events with Junior Pioneers taking lead, funds gathered from city support, postal cards, and entertainments. a preliminary meeting discussed scope and expenses.
The twenty fifth meeting of the Southern Minnesota Teachers associations will be in Mankato February 15 to 17 with City and County Superintendent meetings at Minnesota Commerces College. Jacob Riis will headline the public lecture on The Bad Boy, with other talks by Miss Mabel Carney and Mr M V O Brien. Admission to the lecture is 50 cents for non members. alumni reunion planned Friday at 5 p m.

The New Ulm Athletic Association held its meeting at Schells igi last Thursday with small attendance yet lively discussion on the coming season. Henry Vedder was elected President, Chas Emmerich Vice President, W McHale Secretary Treasurer, and William Lindemsen manager. bonds were pledged, and directors named. The group urged dues collection, new members, ground talks, and drafting a new constitution and by laws for next meeting.
J H Diers of the Minnesota River Improvement League reports a letter from Congressman Stevens indicating War Department backing for the Minnesota River improvement. Dr Graff tested cattle on the Hummel farm finding all fit. Hummel Brothers plan an auction on March 7 with a cattle catalogue detailing each animal.
In Rochester Minnesota high school pupils test seed corn for nearby farmers at no cost. Professor Andrew Boss of the State Farm notes much seed corn is poor and urges all farmers to test it. The program educates students while aiding the community and could be replicated by any school.
Mother Superior Flavia visited Fort Wayne where the executive head of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ oversees St. Alexander Hospital. Authority was granted to modernize, with an architect soon, intending to tear down the brick structure and build a three story L shaped addition with main entrance on Fifth North Street. Building would be up to date and ready to begin soon if plans proceed.
The council discussed water safety after a health officer reported Jehoke's well contained no typhoid bacteria. Decisions on garbage cans, armory siting at North German Park, and armory financing were considered. Appointments included Athenas Henle as collector and Elmer H. Heemberle to inspect electric meters, with pay. Sprinkling routes and steam roller need were referred to committees. The council also reviewed enlarging the electric plant and pump station to meet demand.
Last week's events filled New Ulm with music and society gatherings. The Second Regiment Band's Thirteenth Annual Concert drew a large, appreciative crowd at Turner Theatre with soloists Miss Gladge Nesao and tenor E. A. Brell delivering notable performances. Lincoln's Birthday program impressed, seating overflowed, and patrons praised the civic musical effort while looking ahead to more community entertainments.
