A blaze at Joseph Schiller Jr.’s farm in Courtland township wiped out 23 milk cows and 12 work horses and the barn contents. The haymow fire suggests possible arson. loss estimated at about 15000 dollars with weathered house and milk house surviving amid extensive smoke and fire damage.
Fred W. Dehn of Farmers' Co Operative Creamery won district 2 honors with a 94.75 score at the Minnesota Creamery Operators and Managers Association contest held during its annual meeting in St Paul. A. E. Call won district 1 with 95 points and Charles Summers was close behind at 94.50. Other Nicollet county scorers included Ernest Johnson 93.50 Cyril Wright 98 and several others.
Rev. B R Purdy reports that the American Friends Service Committee joins seven groups to form the European Relief Council chaired by Herbert Hoover. The drive aims to aid 3 500 000 European children with medical care food and clothing through 34 million dollars in funding. Herman Held of Brown County is named campaign chairman, with details to follow.
Miss Leduse Ptak, a Mankato Commercial College alumna and former Minnesota Lake bank stenographer, was found exhausted in a sawmill near Judson and Cambria after a period of amnesia. Local high school students from the Seniors to Freshmen contributed $40 to aid Central European education through the American Relief Administration. The fund, overseen by Herbert Hoover, will distribute money for instruction in European schools. C A Johnson of St Peter visited briefly on business.
