Brvert Committs Series of Crimes Across Counties

Solly Earp, an escapee from Red Wing Training School, is accused of assaulting Mrs. Hollis Ladd near Cobden, stealing a coat, and snatching Mrs. Jerry Reardon’s purse. He traveled through Sleepy Eye, Milford, New Ulm, and Courtland, fleeing until a posse cornered him at the Halverson farm. The recovered purse and raincoat were later found. Earp remains jailed.

Milwaukee man loses right foot in switch yard accident

Joseph Hodel, about 22, of Milwaukee, lost his right foot when a loaded wheat car rolled over it during switching at the Chicago North Western yards. He was treated at Union hospital after railroad surgeons amputated the foot. Conductor Hutchinson witnessed the accident. State Bank Examiner Hunze and Assistant Pieha conducted a routine bank audit Monday and Tuesday.

City Council Finalizes Sprinkling Assessments and Water Probe

The New Ulm city council affirmed sprinkling assessments despite objections from Ernst Wicherski, who argued board ineligibility and excessive charges. Wicherski contested his $7.84 bill for two lots while a water quality test faced funding hurdles, prompting a new request to the Minnesota Health Board and a local sampling by B M Mohler from the Front Street Spring and new well.

Brown County Fair Association Eyes New Grand Stand

At the Brown County Agricultural Society annual meeting held in the Commercial Club rooms, plans for a reinforced steel concrete grand stand with 1000 capacity were discussed. With about 4000 needed of 8000, officials proposed boosting funds and budgeting to reduce indebtedness, plus adjustments to fair transportation charges and music quality for next year. The secretary’s exhaustive report showed receipts of 8546.58 and disbursements of 8371.18, leaving 175.40 in treasury, with 2254 exhibits entered. Directors re elected include Ford Crone and F. H. Behnke among others.

Busy night for police ends with Bach arrest and confusion

Police chased multiple leads after a bold robbery spree and the capture of Rudolph Bach, advance agent for the Irving Place Theatre Company. Faribault and Brown County officers checked suspects in jail but could not connect them to the robberies. Bach claimed pay rights and was jailed after a dispute with the company manager Gustav Olmar. Bach’s wife Freda Hlork appeared in court.
