Does Not Want to Pay Wallin Appeals Damages Suit
Harris Wallin of Comfrey appeals a $1800 judgment against him for injuring Hulda Wiese with a shotgun at the Wiese farm. Wallin, paroled from prison, sought to vacate the judgment citing excusable neglect. the Supreme Court will rule at the April term. The plaintiff’s levy on Wallin’s inherited share was sold last May, and the appeal is led by Samson, Dempsey & Mueller with Aug G Erickson for the woman.

On December 9 from 9 am to 4 pm Madelia residents may register votes for postmaster. All registered voters from the last Madelia election can participate. City to lit tree and install waste cans at intersection
At a regular city council meeting, plans were approved to erect the Christmas tree at Minnesota and 1st North Streets with the city wiring the globe and providing electricity free of charge. Dr. Seifert received permission to buy and install waste cans for $6 each, and water concerns from Goose Town Well and nearby wells prompted boil-only use. Other items included city hall site purchase for $3,000, armory rent set at $250, steam heating bids, and road routing discussions to Redstone Courtland.

The Board of Education awarded the electric light fixtures contract to James Corday Company of Minneapolis for 1150 dollars. Simmons McDonald Company and Everling Electric Company offered higher bids but were rejected for not meeting specifications. Fred Meyer becomes janitor at Kew High School, Theo Scheiderich named chief engineer in charge of heating. no Washington School janitor elected.
