Long Distance Electric Transmission Demonstrated
The Snoqualmie Falls Power Company of Seattle conducted a novel experiment driving an electric motor 153 miles from the generator. All lines were connected in one continuous circuit Snoqualmie Falls to Seattle to Tacoma and back to the falls to test practical commercial transmission over long distances. Regular transmission covers 32 miles to Seattle and 44 miles to Tacoma. The tests were for experimental purposes to show feasibility of far longer electric power transmission. Also noted is a brief, unrelated tidbit about millinery shortages and a controversial El Paso school dress rule for female teachers.
