On to Fairfax. New Ulm high school basketball prepared to meet the strong Fairfax organization at Fairfax next Saturday after an easy win over Lamberton. The local girls team will play Fairfax girls that day, with both results awaited. Last year Fairfax won both games. this year Fairfax may face a tougher challenge. The Friday Lambert game was clean and well attended, with dignified protests from Lamberton and strong support from orchestra and fans.

Court Calendar Shows Wide Docket For District Court
The coming term lists three criminal appeals from justice court for Gottlieb Ryifel George Sweet and John J. Franke and thirty-five civil cases including eight in County Ditch No. 13 with appellants Behnke Tuttle Bertrand Lebert Cutting Steffel Wooldrick and Ganske among others. Water flow threatens Mankato street with open well
Mankato fights to control 600 gallon a minute artesian well draining into a street and nearby property. A rusted pipe through 100 feet of soil failed to seal the rock opening, washing away rock, undermining the street and risking adjoining homes. Attempts to insert smaller pipes failed. a 20 inch pipe is now ordered with cement around it to halt the loss and stabilize the site.

Bachelor Nick Erlich Ends Life in Cottonwood Hayloft
Nick Erlich a fifty nine or sixty year old farm laborer and bachelor was found hanging in the hayloft of Herman Bentzin's Cottonwood farm last Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Julius Dr Schoch and local professionals attended but an inquest was deemed unnecessary. Erlich who had lived in the area about twenty years had recently left Bentzin's for town money was scarce and he planned to return to work. He was born in Bavaria came to America about twenty five years ago and left no worldly possessions. Attorney Samson transacted business in Minneapolis and Miss Caroline Augustin of Springfield visited Mrs Schramm while John W Book was named secretary treasurer of the Gibbon Improvement club.
