Pioneer Maennerchor of Young America Golden Jubilee Parade

More than 3000 people filled Young America's city park for the Pioneer Maennerchor golden jubilee. Visitors came by train and auto to celebrate German singing societies, with speeches praising heritage and liberty, a parade, and performances by the Ladies chorus and Turnverein exhibition.

First Day Attendance at New Ulm Public Schools

On Monday August 29 New Ulm public schools opened for the fall term with 680 total students enrolled including 125 in high school. The normal department welcomed 12 students, four of whom are former high school graduates. Teachers and Supt Hess noted prospects for enrollment growth as students return from vacations and others relocate to the city.

Brown County Sunday School Convention Opens in Springfield

The eighth annual Brown county Sunday school convention meets in Springfield from Wednesday to Thursday with delegates from Methodist and Congregational churches. Speakers Mrs Blomquist and Mrs Sauter entertain with singing and dancing, as 3000 attendees enjoyed a jubilant Pioneer Maennerchor event in Young America last Sunday.

Committed to Asylum Huber a Saint Paul figure

Frank J. Huber once a leading St. Paul politician and former Board of Aldermen president was committed Thursday to the state insane asylum at St. Peter. After a hospital transfer days earlier a four member commission ordered the transfer citing his failing mental health tied to a factory fire loss, a death in February, and recent ill health. A Wisconsin brother attended the hearing.
