Silver Wedding Celebrated for Stelljes at Local School
Mr and Mrs Henry Stelljes marked their silver wedding anniversary at the Lutheran school house last Friday in a large gathering of friends and relatives. Married in New Ulm 26 years ago by Rev Albrecht they have lived in the area since. The couple, born Germany and Pennsylvania respectively, are parents of eight children Sunita Erich Waldemar Edwin Otis Carl Elvera and Harold all at home. Rev Albrecht spoke as a main speaker with recitations and music. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs John Stellies of Minneapolis and Mrs Peter Gareis and daughter Esther.

Four Year Old Crippled For Life In Freight Car Accident
A four year old boy, Johnny Polta, son of Jos Polta, an employee at the city light plant, was crushed under a freight car at the depot crossing. His right leg was amputated above the knee and he will require crutches or an artificial limb for life. Two brothers narrowly escaped. The accident happened as a switch engine moved cars while workers watched the crossing. He was rushed to Loretto Hospital in critical condition but is recovering. the event recalls a prior Amann case against M and St L.

Dr Daniels Farewell Visit Highlights Minnesota Pioneer
Dr Daniel is an 88 year old physician linked to Southern Minnesota history. He visited New Ulm on Monday, recalling early settlers and the 1862 massacre rescue. Once the oldest practicing doctor in Minnesota, he retired fifteen years ago and plans to return to California with his son, Harry Daniels, Nicollet County Surveyor.
