Democrats in the Saddle at Minnesota Convention
The Democratic county convention in New Ulm elected seventeen delegates to the state convention in Minneapolis despite bad weather. Capt. Albert Pfaender was endorsed for legislative nomination by an almost unanimous vote, with local leaders pleased by orderly deliberations and strong turnout. Delegates chosen from New Ulm Sleepy Eye Springfield and surrounding townships with half votes arranged for double delegation. No instructions were given to Minneapolis delegates to avoid limiting the party’s prospects.

Four highwaymen robbed a Mountain Lake butcher shop of cash and fled toward the stock yards. The village marshal pursued and was stabbed in the abdomen during a fierce encounter. Citizens aided as the robbers were captured amid rising tensions and potential justice.

New Ulm to House Atlas Concrete Works Near Brickyards
New Ulm gains a new Atlas Concrete Works plant to be located near the Aufderheide brickyards with stock subscriptions giving locals control. The Hanska operation moves here to save sand and gravel costs, capitalized at 20000 dollars and employing eight to ten men year round. The building will be near side-tracks of the Northwestern and Minneapolis St Louis lines, with installation of Hanska plant machinery forthcoming. Wedded Fifty Years Celebration At Turner Hall
Mr and Mrs Frank Friedmann celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at Turner Hall with Turnverein and Turner Frauenverein members and friends. Capt Burg and Capt Steinhauser spoke. five living children and eight grandchildren attended, tracing a marriage begun in 1858 in Indiana and later moved to New Ulm in 1867.
