The New Ulm city council approved a designated path for the state highway from Courtland bridge to Loretto Hospital. Supposed Silk Thieves Arrested In Mankato Area

Spains Both Ankles In Leap At Brewery

Ernest Hagberg a Schell brewery bookkeeper suffered a painful and serious accident last Wednesday while helping load a beer dray. The frightened team began to run and Hagberg leaped for safety, spraining both ankles severely. Doctors later found no bones broken and he is recovering at home but will be unable to walk for some time.

Forgery in New Ulm Targets Local Merchant

A stranger posing as a farm hand used a forged 16.50 check to pay for small purchases at a New Ulm store. The check drawn on W. Gruber and payable to E. J. Schaentzins was accepted, later deemed forged, and turned over to night police John Herzog. The suspect’s description is vague, hindering progress, though another restaurant attempt failed.

Wise Selected as Mankato Postmaster Candidate

J H Edwards longtime city resident and Mason was guest of honor at a farewell banquet in the Masonic rooms last Saturday night. A watch fob emblem was presented by Herman Held, with Edwards thanking the group. City Societies Picnic Honors Jahn Birthday at New Ulm

About 150 members of the New Ulm Turnverein enjoyed a daylong picnic at Herman Piaender’s grove honoring Friedrich Ludwig Jahn born August 11. The outing featured music by Capt Hofmeister’s six piece band, Hawaiian-sounding songs by Prof John X Neumann, indoor baseball, and a humorous pillows fight atop a slippery arm pole.
