County Carnival Promises Biggest Fair Yet

Readying for a three day county fair with boosted premiums especially for stock. Prescott Carnival and Amusement Company to provide attractions including Jumping the Gap, a high dive, and acrobats. Parades planned daily, races with $750 in prizes, electric lights, and free grounds admission evenings. Local support strong to draw large crowds and deliver value.

Water system improvement at Northwestern yards in Chicago

The conteal querius of the Chicago wn Northwestern yards are upgrading water supply under Karaman Chas Outland of St. James. An old 1500 barrel water tank was removed and a new stand pipe with a movable top and steel arm will feed boilers. A 10x24 water tank near the pumping station on First South and Valley streets is being built to replace the torn tank. The new equipment enhances pressure and control for fireman use.

New Water Works Tank To Serve Station Ox Trail

The new water tank will hold 1558 barrels and be filled by the station pump. Water will be drawn through six inch vitrified tiling connected to a cistern near the New Ulm Cereal Mill. Mr Ostlund says completion will take several weeks and the old tanks will be removed to free yard space while an extra track allows two engines to position for water simultaneously on the main thoroughfare and a nearby switch.

Weiser Succeeds Pfefferle as School Board President

The city school board gathered at the High School assembly room Saturday evening to elect officers. Dr Geo B Weiser became president, A F Reim secretary, and A W Bingham treasurer. Janitors retained and Miss Minnie Silverson’s assistant teacher post filled by Miss Cora E Wells of Morris Minnesota. Wells, a University of Michigan graduate with Berlin post graduate study and years in England and Scotland literature. Committee appointments to be set by the president before the next term.

Farewell Party For Fred Hubbard At Sebel Home

The Sebel residence hosted a Wednesday farewell for Fred A. Hubbard who departs for Minneapolis. Guests enjoyed lantern light lawn games, songs by three boys, and a final supper as they dispersed after a warm sendoff.

Delivery boy injured as wagon boxes strike horses

Ernest Schmidt, a Crane's department store delivery boy, is severely injured when boxes on his wagon slide forward, spook the horses, and drag him about a half block along North German Street. He suffers torn skin on his sides and back but no internal injuries.

St Anne Court Picnic At Hunter's Rest Grounds

St Anne Court members gathered on grounds overlooking the Cottonwood River at Hunter's Rest for a day of games and amusements. Women enjoyed bowling at the alley while others served as fortune tellers with sometimes alarming prophecies. An elaborate lunch and supper was prepared by the ladies before members returned home.
