Water system improvement at Northwestern yards in Chicago
The conteal querius of the Chicago wn Northwestern yards are upgrading water supply under Karaman Chas Outland of St. James. An old 1500 barrel water tank was removed and a new stand pipe with a movable top and steel arm will feed boilers. A 10x24 water tank near the pumping station on First South and Valley streets is being built to replace the torn tank. The new equipment enhances pressure and control for fireman use.

New Water Works Tank To Serve Station Ox Trail
The new water tank will hold 1558 barrels and be filled by the station pump. Water will be drawn through six inch vitrified tiling connected to a cistern near the New Ulm Cereal Mill. Mr Ostlund says completion will take several weeks and the old tanks will be removed to free yard space while an extra track allows two engines to position for water simultaneously on the main thoroughfare and a nearby switch.
