Nationwide tribute planned for Luther’s 400th anniversary
The National Lutheran Council in New York announces a world wide celebration on Sunday April 17 to mark Martin Luther’s appearance at Worms and his stand for religious liberty. The program includes congregational services, readings from Luther’s era, street pageants, posters and a quadricentenary handbook. Messages from Lutherans worldwide will be shared and broadcast to churches.

New Ulm Bowlers Enter One Tournament in Mankato

Tornado hits Rushmore area killing one, injuring others
Miss Elsie Rowe, a Lincoln school teacher from St Peter, recalls the Rushmore tornado that killed Mrs Dahlberg and wounded her two children. The storm razed farms near Rushmore, toppled buildings, destroyed the school, and disrupted town life as nurses were summoned from Sioux Falls.
Federal land banks offer farmer loans after Supreme Court ruling
The Supreme Court upheld the tax exempt status of the Federal Farm Act enabling land banks to operate. They can lend up to half the land's appraised value plus 20 percent of building value at five and a half percent interest. About 213,000 farmers have borrowed 430 million dollars through 4000 National Farm Loan Associations.
