Pvt. John Quinlan, after a nine month Aerial Engineering course at Dalhart Texas, returns on furlough with parents Mr and Mrs J R Quinlan. He received his wings December 6 and heads to Ardmore Oklahoma for advanced training on the B 29. He hopes for a sergeant promotion and may become an instructor or be sent abroad.

Assembly entertains UW Extension magician Ben Berger

Friday January 21 an assembly for the student body featured Ben Berger a magician from the University of Wisconsin Extension program. He performed card tricks a guillotine act and an egg trick with notable student participation. Evergreen trees are being bordered by the St. Croix County Conservation Department for agriculture students. A eight week farm machinery repair course began January 24 at Phil LaVenture's machine shop open to seniors and non students. The mechanice class sharpens tools and overhauls mowers while a 2700 pound seed potato order will be shipped in April and a club ordered fruit trees arriving for spring planting.

Armstrong Attends Decorah Tourney Not Entered

Tom Armstrong traveled from St Paul to Decorah for the annual tournament to observe debates and gather information. Chippewa Falls won seven debates with South St Paul and Eau Claire tying for second with five each. Special honors went to Richard Trueblood and Dick Egdahl, and Chippewa earned a trophy. The social problem class heard nutritionist Mrs Schalkamp discuss health and flu season care.
