Electrical Plant Under Construction at Black Canyon Dam
Preliminary work on the half million dollar electric power plant at Black Canyon dam is underway. The 62 by 60 by 45 foot building will house two 16,000 horsepower turbines with automatic controls. Two eight foot diameter penstocks and two 6 by 10 foot gates are being built to regulate water. Charles Farmer oversees the project with K. B. Keener as engineer and C. A. Harris as electrical expert. The plant will supply power to lift water from Snake River onto 40,000 acres in the Gem Irrigation district.
