New Plymouth school directors voted to cut staff to one full time teacher for the coming year to stay within the tax levy. Property reassessment reduced both levy and valuation over the years, with the maximum for general purposes at 8 mills and voters potentially adding up to 50 mills by election. The plan would assign a grade and a half to lower grades to free a teacher and maintain last year’s standards.

Apples Sell For One Fourth of Farm
An order for 25 cars of Jonathan apples for the California market at 45 cents per pound has been filled by J C Palum. M G Davis and Jacob Kramp are among those who sold. Mark Salisbury sold apples for 1500 on the trees, the buyer to finish spraying and care. Salisbury bought his farm for 6000 from Harry Chadwick last spring and the apples return 26 percent of the price. He says the country would fill up if more south and east buyers knew of it. Salisbury came from Hardy Arkansas.

Salt Lake Has Fatal Accident
A fatal crash in Salt Lake involved an unidentified car striking a touring vehicle driven by William Henry Young 63 founder of Young's Cafe at 127 South Main Street. Mrs Young died, Mr Young suffered a skull fracture and is listed critical at Holy Cross hospital. The couple were found at 3 55 AM by Glen Walton wagon driver for Harris Bros. dairy beneath their overturned car about 100 feet south of Herbert avenue on South Main Street.

Car Leaves Highway Ditch Injures Child During Visit
