Fire and explosion devastate Gillis Theatre in Kansas City
Fire chief Alex Henderson said a blaze and blast wrecked the Gillis theatre sparking a debris search for up to 100 people inside. By dusk three bodies were recovered and authorities warned many more could be found among the four story ruin with walls and floors collapsing after the explosion near a restaurant.

Three Draw Fines In Probate Court
Fred Heightsmenn of Ontario Harry Hollenberg of Weiser with Goldie Grimes of Fruitland were arrested on a delinquency charge early last Thursday north of Payette. Margaret Neal a seventeen year old Fruitland girl was found with the trio. Bond for the three older members was fixed at $300 each. They pleaded not guilty at preliminary hearing and trial was set for Tuesday at 2 pm. They were found guilty. The men were fined seventy dollars and costs each Goldie Grimes drew a fifty dollar fine and Neal returned to Fruitland.

Thief Hauls Cow Away From Pickett Ranch
A cow was stolen from the Pickett ranch southeast of town Tuesday night. The animal was found on a trailer Wednesday morning along the highway west of the ranch. Sheriff Jefferis investigated and arrested J. C. Campbell of Boise in Nampa at 1 am. he was brought to the Pickett ranch for details unavailable at press time.
