Proceeds from the Friday night event February 6 will be shared by New Plymouth's Boy Band and Payette County Band. The troupe, led by Mr Stoner who directs both bands, promises an improved show after last year's success. Local businessmen back the production and a dance will follow the performance.
A campaign led by Claude L. Wakeland of the University of Idaho experiment station targets eradicating the Colorado potato beetle in Idaho. The first outbreak was found on a single south Idaho field, which was sprayed and patrolled during the flat growing season. Officials call for continued monitoring and reporting of any new sightings to the Parma station to prevent further spread and save farmers money.
The Emmett Dramatic Club stages a four act comedy Broadway Jones with a Jitney dance at Pioneer hall on Thursday January 29. Top local talent and quality music between acts promise a memorable evening in New Plymouth with parties already arranging travel from Payette Emmett and Fruitland. Nellie Tayloe Ross signed the first act of the current Wyoming legislature, approving appropriations to cover session expenses. Following the signing legislators rushed to the state treasurer to collect mileage and per diem to date.
New Plymouth reports a small library serving the community with 99 books checked out on January 3. The library relies on a few devoted workers to provide reading material. active members total 34 with dues set at 50 cents annually. The note urges membership rise to over 100 in 1926.
The eighth grade faces State Geography exams this week conducted by Mrs. Dave Slone. Basketball games are set at Roswell Friday night and Intermountain Institute visits on January 28. Mildred Stockton misses finals due to illness. The Junior class enjoyed a sleigh ride Monday evening. Farmers in sage brush country report jack rabbits damaging fruit trees and hay stacks. A U S Biological Survey endorsed method uses sliced apples with a strychnine salt mix, dusted over hay, and applied in rabbit trails and feeding spots with precautions for livestock. Blood paint on tree trunks reportedly protected trees from rabbit damage last year.
At a Thursday library meeting Mrs A R Ingalls was elected president and officers include Mrs H S Burroughs as vice president Mrs B C McClelland as secretary and Miss Carrie Smith as treasurer The library holds over a thousand books with 125 added in the past year About 76 to 80 books are checked out daily while 34 paid members exist for 1924 and organizers hope to more than double that number this year Society invites new members to join.
The Van Petten Lumber Yard will undergo a management shift around February 1 as C. E. Longwell leaves to enter the insurance business with Rev. W. D. Price. CC. F. Eder will assume the manager role in New Plymouth after selling his Nyasa interest, with the town expressing regret at Mr Longwell's departure and welcoming Mr Eder and family back.
Mrs Alice Mulholland died suddenly Saturday morning at her Payette home probably from apoplexy. She had lived in Payette about a year and will be buried in Willoughby Ohio beside her husband Captain Mulholland who died in May 1922. The Eastern Star lodge will conduct the service. Mrs Dan Gardner accompanied the body. The Mulhollands moved to New Plymouth eight years ago and had lived on a ranch near Valley View. She leaves a sister a brother and an aunt and uncle.
The first crossword puzzle casualty occurred in New Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon when W. A. Reed, while helping solve a puzzle at Hyde's Confectionery, stood too close to a stove and burned a hole in the back of his overcoat. Injuries were minor but painful and no insurance was carried.
Glenn Darnall was elected chairman of the Business Men's club last Thursday night with R. H. Van Valkenberg as vice president and Roland Sullivan as secretary-treasurer. John Grogs reported a $52 treasury balance. The club urged producing the Dark Brown Babies show of Payette county band, with proceeds to Plymouth's Boy Band. Rev. A. I. Ferch spoke and new Coop Store manager W. F. Diefendorf and purchaser H. I. Chadwick of The Fendleton spoke.
A. Schuler seeks to buy a carload of Holsteins in eastern Idaho. Anyone with Holsteins for sale should contact Mr. Schuler.
Court adjourned 2 to 4 p m Monday in respect to Judge Dunn whose funeral was held at that time. New cases include Maxfield vs Maxfield divorce and a suit by the State Bank Commissioner against N N Payne to collect on a promissory note. First National Bank of Idaho vs Henry Reins verdict for $6 037 78.
A lively surprise birthday gathering was held last Wednesday at the home of Mr and Mrs Mike King on Oniwest Boulevard hosted by Mrs King and Mrs Walter Manis in honor of William King and Marion Manis.
The Farmers State Bank and banks in Ontario Payette and Juntura will charge 50c per month for keeping small active checking accounts after February. Charges apply to accounts below 50 dollars unless the monthly average is 100 dollars or more and only if more than three checks are written. The policy aims to reduce bank work while not discouraging saving.
The annual meeting of the Baptist Ladies Aid elected officers for the coming year. President Mrs W H Beary, vice president Mrs H M Wiseman, treasurer Mrs Dale May, secretary Mrs Dave Slone. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs J R Carpenter on January 29.
About twenty friends and neighbors hosted a farewell for Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Eldred last Wednesday evening. The gathering included refreshments and a jolly party to remember them by.

Dr W F Lorenz chairman of the Wisconsin state board of control and the captain and crew of the wrecked schooner Ruth of Pensacola Fla have been released from jail by Mexican authorities at Progreso Yucatan.
Twenty nine cows from 520 tested in December produced 40 lbs fat or more. A. Schuler of New Plymouth led with the highest herd fat 471 lbs and milk 1254 lbs from registered Holsteins. E. Parker of Weiser and L. M Smith of Emmett posted notable individual cows with strong fat yields.
Idaho State Horticultural association will convene in Boise January 28 29 and 30 Topics of interest will be discussed daily in the Boise Chamber of Commerce A banquet will be held Thursday night Guy Graham of Fruitland and Walter Burke of New Plymouth appear on Thursday's program.
The Every Member Canvass Committee met at Mr. DeMont Judd's home to review progress and complete tasks. Mrs. Hook spoke on the State Christian Endeavor rally at Payette next month. Ladies Aid to meet at Mrs. White's home next Wednesday afternoon for volunteer work. A reception for Rev. and Mrs. Ferch and family was held Friday evening with a musical program and talks by Rev. Knight and Rev. Ferch. Bible school led by C. E. Milea at 10 a.m. with new classes forming. Worship will include a sermon on the Duties and Privileges of Officers followed by installation of new officers. Youth work led by Mrs. A. J. Ferch at 7 p.m. A long sermon titled The Gospel in our Modern World will close with a social message and a Q and A on vital questions to be discussed during evening worship. Announcement of the plan will be made Sunday.
A delayed report from Croton Nebraska describes a man attempting to gas 30 children and five adults at the Star theatre by stuffing the theater exhaust pipe. Victims collapsed but were recovering rapidly as first aid was given.
