Henry Fraber of Waynesboro visited Abbottstown for the first time in 36 years, guest of his niece Mrs M G Nagle. Dozens of locals and visitors from Gettysburg Hanover East Berlin and York spent time with relatives in New Oxford and Abbottstown over the week, including trips to Gettysburg battlefield and the Carlisle Fair.

The Western Maryland Railway winter schedule took effect with multiple train timing changes. One day excursion tickets to Pen Mar were discontinued. Marriages Reported Across Several Pennsylvania Towns

Multiple couples from Gettysburg Carlisle York Springs Hanover Abbottstown and Philadelphia were married in Harrisburg Trenton New York and Philadelphia churches and homes. Wagon Struck By Auto Near Guideng on Lincoln Highway

Arthur Roth son of Prothonotar G J H Roth struck the rear of a wagon near Guideng on the Lincoln Highway on his way to Gettysburg. No one was injured and the wagon was driven by two boys. Earlier at the Hanover Shoe factory Wilfred Rupprecht crushed the first and second fingers of his left hand.

New Oxford Post Office Restores Rural Patrons

Theo E. Warner post master and Hon. A. R. Brodbeck of Hanover met with Jos J. Blakeslee to restore discontinued rural service. An Inspector will visit in early October to reestablish routes to pre April 1 1916 conditions and serve all former patrons with a countywide rearrangement.

Buggies Collide Near Town on New Chester Road

Hayes Harmon and C A Dukehart of near Heidlersburg collided with a horse and buggy driven by John Laughman on New Chester road near the home of Doctor Snyder. One buggy upset and the driver thrown clear. Laughman's buggy also damaged as the horse ran away before being caught.

Beautify Square Plan Formed in Hampton Meeting

A Hampton public meeting formed an organization to acquire and beautify the central square. Residents subscribed 135 dollars. A circular plot will be laid and ringed by a chain with a marker for the center. Next Monday evening Road Board and Pike Company reps will attend.

Union Prayer Meetings and Local Happenings in Hanover

A Wednesday union prayer meeting is planned at the Reform ed church at 7 30. Mrs. Jacob Barnhart of Hanover is reported unconscious after drinking nearly a quart of whiskey and sustaining a head injury. his condition improved after being brought home by companions Guy Houck and Tenry Martin. Local notices include engagements, arrests, horse races, fishing, and various injuries and incidents around Hanover and York counties.

Horses Die From Poisoning Near Swift Run

A mule and a horse owned by John C. Bream near Swift Run schoolhouse were killed Saturday after suffering spinal meningitis from poisoned forage in corn fodder. A horse belonging to Harry Bream, his cousin, died Tuesday from the same cause. Drs. Hudson and Feiser could not help the animals, which could not partake of any feed.

Domestic Accused of Larceny in Hanover

Miss Esther Harbold formerly of New Oxford was arrested on a warrant by Squire Sell on the theft of game money from the Treiber household. Night Officer Bowman detained her Monday evening and Officer Crabbs continued the case. She is in the county jail awaiting a hearing after bail was denied.

Auto collision injures none on Sunday near Brush Run

William Hoffnagle of near Brush Run schoolhouse was riding home from church when an auto bound for Gettysburg struck his buggy as he turned from the State road onto Bonneauville road. The impact knocked spokes from a rear wheel and bent a fender. no injuries were reported.

Auto Runs Down Bank on Carlisle Pike

A Ford car driven by Charles Dicks of Round Hill ran off the Carlisle pike above Hampton about six on Monday evening after the steering gear failed. The vehicle struck an embankment and rolled, throwing Dicks from the car. He escaped with no injuries. The radius rod on the car was bent.

Retired Publisher Milford Ritter Dies in Reading

Milford N. Ritter, a retired publisher and former head of the Reading Telegram, died in Reading Pennsylvania. He belonged to a family long associated with ownership of the Reading Actor, a German weekly newspaper, and led as former publisher of the Reading Telegram.

Bull Kills Boy at Glen Mills Reform School

Russell Nichols fifteen of Goodville Pennsylvania was killed by a bull at the Glen Mills Reform School near Media Pennsylvania. He teased the animal tied in a stall and was crushed against the stall wall with the bull driving its lead into his chest causing fatal internal injuries.

Bullet Wounds Girl In Lebanon Drive By Assailant

Miss Naomi Koehler 21, daughter of Allen Koehler of South Lebanon township, was shot as a man sprang from a tree on South Ninth street while she rode home with a male friend. The bullet hit near her breastbone and lodged in her shoulder. the would be target escaped. Koehler is expected to recover.
