Nine Tipsy Drivers Are Sentenced
Nine drivers who mixed alcohol and gasoline appeared among 25 defendants before the Adams county court for sentence Saturday morning. Weikert received nine months for hit-and-run and drunken driving in the death of Robert J. Smith. Speelman got six months for hit-and-run and drunken driving in a Gettysburg accident. Fredd received 30 days for drunken driving and 60 days for failing to stop, to run consecutively with a $100 fine. Other defendants drew 30 or 60 day terms with costs and possible fines remitted if paid within 30 or 90 days. The judge also ordered payments and remissions in several cases and noted prior records in Bechtel and others.
