Milk dealer arrested in Gettysburg milk theft case

In Gettysburg, Millard R. Basehear age 23 son of Crystal Dairy owner near Littlestown was arrested on a charge of stealing a pint of milk after delivery. Royale Dairy drivers reported the theft from Ray Little’s West High street home and identified a Crystal employee. Bail was posted for a Friday morning hearing before Justice of the Peace J. Co. Shearer.

Young Mother Dies After Poison Link Suspected

Mrs. Hazel Steinour, 31, of Frederick and formerly of Gettysburg, a Blue Ridge bus driver, died at Warner hospital after taking poison last Wednesday evening amid a personal crisis. Survived by husband Maurice Steinour and son Maurice Jr., and mother Ada Jones of York. Funeral Sunday at 9 from Bender funeral home with interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Central Catholic students stage Heart Exchange comedy

Central Catholic high school students in McSherrystown present a three act comedy titled Heart Exchange by J C McMullen in Parochial Hall on December 7 and 8 at 8 15 pm with proceeds for St Marys church. Change Program for Gettysburg Reformed Conference

The annual consistorial conference of the Gettysburg class of the Reformed church will meet at St. Paul’s Reformed Church New Oxford on Thursday December 7. A 6:30 supper precedes the 7:30 conference session with a reorganized agenda and a pastor questionnaire selecting six key questions for discussion. Attendees include ministers and laymen from Adams and parts of York counties. Rev. Dr. Edgar F. Hoffmeier of Emmanuel’s Reformed Church Hanover will preside.

Eight Relief Projects In Adams County Under CWA

Adams county administrator James R. McConaghie lists eight work relief projects for the Civil Works Administration. Gettysburg and nearby towns gain road and alley grading, drainage improvements, and monument markers, while projects include a state agriculture effort to remove red cedar trees near Hunters Town Heidlersburg and Fairfield to curb cedar rust on fruit trees. An office staff of six will administer the CWA program under McConaghie with I. L. Taylor advising at Gettysburg National Bank.

Weikerts Celebrate Golden Wedding at Two Taverns

Edward and wife E L Weikert observe their golden wedding anniversary at home in Two Taverns after marrying November 25 1888 in Littlestown by Rev J A Moetagar. They raised six children 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The couple's family recalls Civil War era ties and a farm now sold to the Tate Joby May estate.

Union Thanksgiving Service at St Pauls Reformed Church

Stock reports $163.25 campaign expense for re election bid

William H E Stock of Mt Pleasant township filed an expense account Monday showing $163.25 spent on his unsuccessful bid for associate judge in the recent general election. He had no contributions to his campaign and is the first candidate to file. Candidates have 39 days from election to file accounts.

Commitment Issued in Gettysburg Court Case

Justice of the Peace Nell W Gibson issued a commitment for Layerd Starner of New Oxford R.3 after a March 31 daylight capture of a raccoon. An April 12 hearing found Starner guilty with a $10 fine plus costs. A writ of comfort, filed earlier, was not repressed and the court ordered collection of the fine. The commitment was sent to Constable Earl Pitzer of Mennlen township.
