Man Vanishes After Renting Horse at Globe Hotel
About two weeks ago a man giving the name C. Boyler checked into the Globe Hotel in Gettysburg with a horse. Posing as a salesman for a logging firm, he hired a horse from Lewis Ramer for two dollars daily. He left the poor animal at the hotel, then disappeared with Ramer’s horse and has not been seen since.

Sometime after midnight Tuesday thieves tried to raid Eagle Hotel by prying front shutters and window with a steel chisel but nothing was stolen though the proprietor's hat lay outside and a traveling man's satchel was moved. The National Hotel on Pat Street lost a bottle of champagne and whiskey, and Miller's Railroad House at Abbotstown was broken into with liquor taken. no clues to the burglars.
