Oxford Municipal Authority Rejects Bond Refinancing
At a joint meeting the New Oxford Municipal Authority and Borough Council decided not to refinance the $975,000 1959 bond issue funding the sewer disposal plant and water plant improvements. The bond firm Eastman Dillon Union Securities outlined a 3.8 percent option with about $39,000 potential savings, but officials chose to wait for a more favorable market. The session was led by Authority Chairman Charles Alwine and attended by several authority and council members.

Mrs. Robert A. MacAskill of Get tysburg was elected president of the Adams County Society for Crippled Children and Adults at the annual reorganiza tion meeting of the board of directors in Gettysburg. The ten directors for three year terms were named, with Mrs. MacAskill, Mrs. Franklin Bigham, and Miss Grace Kenney among the officers. The board approved purchasing a smaller wheelchair with a brake, funding transport for a crippled girl to two treatment clinics, and further help for a local family with a handicapped child.

The Variety Show sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the East Berlin VFW drew large crowds Friday and Saturday at the post home. Participants included Bermudian High School Stage Band Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups Sage Council Oniska Tribe Ranger Patrol and local PTA units. All proceeds benefit the hospital fund with Mary C. Baker as chairwoman Delores Swartz as cochairman and Janet Sheffer as program chairwoman. Special recognition went to Louise Eisenhart for painting the backdrop. Also reported is a tractor fire on the Ludwig Keller farm near Bonneauville causing about 73 dollars in damage.

Curbing work on Berlin Avenue from the elementary school to Berlin Road in New Oxford has been finished by the New Oxford School District. The district agreed to widen the street to 40 feet for safer school bus operations. After curbing, sidewalks will be built and the borough will surface the widened section.
