Seventeen York chapter members joined a November 9 ten mile hike along Conewago Creek from Dicks Dam to near East Berlin as part of a series tracing the stream from its source to the Susquehanna. Deaths and obituaries from Adams County area
Chester Gravatt 56 of Wilder Idaho died November 9 at Veterans Hospital Boise after a brief illness. He was born October 25 1885 in Chester Ions and married Anna Staub in New Oxford in 1923. He worked as a chain welder in New Oxford before moving to Idaho. Surviving wife Anna, and several relatives. Henry J Shrader 91 of New Oxford died at Hanover Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired cigarmaker and active in Sacred Heart Church and veterans groups. He is survived by nine children and many grandchildren. Valentine Laughman 63 of Abbottstown R1 died at his home. He was a Hanover Church of the Brethren member, survived by his wife Martia and multiple children and grandchildren. Harry Edward Serff 60 of Dover died at York Hospital while employed at Fulton Mendring Beuser Inc. Survived by widow and numerous children and grandchildren. Mrs J L Rea dead at Scranton. former Adams County rural teacher. Also listed are other local notices and funeral details.
