State to Build Steel Bridge at Brushtown
An Associated Press dispatch reports Adams county will gain a steel bridge over the Conewago river west of McSherrystown on route 116. A 1.06 mile concrete road in Menalien township on route 41 will be built by Cen tral Builders Supply of Sanbury at $39,856. Eighty-one bids were opened for 17.51 miles of new state roads. Local labor will construct the bridge under highway engineers.

County Supports All Democratic Candidates
Adams county voters swung into the democratic column in Tuesday's balloting with clear victories for the entire ticket. Lawrence H. Rupp defeated U S Senator James J. Davis by 1 260 votes, and Harry L. Haines beat Leighton C. Taylor by 2 493 ballots. Doctor Hartman led the ticket by 3 122 votes for state legislature. About 13 000 county votes were cast as the landslide favored Democrats in Adams and nationwide.

A cash register stolen from George H. Duttera’s Gulden station general store was recovered Monday on the road from Lincoln highway to Hunters town. No money was in the register. only cigarette packages were missing. Entry was via a forced window and the state police are investigating.

Woman Leaps From Auto Injuries Reported
Mrs Minnie Boyce of Hampton was injured when she jumped from her closed car near the borough line Wednesday afternoon. She suffered head and leg injuries and was admitted to Hanover Hospital. Her husband, John Boyce, said she opened the door and leaped as they traveled toward Hampton. Witnesses said the car moved at a moderate pace. She had been ill recently.
