Through October 1941 total crashes reached 205, down from 218 in 1940, and highway deaths rose to 15. Officers logged 21,000 miles, 2,075 hours at the station, 1,243 on traffic duty, 376 patrols, 897 vehicle stops, and recovered a stolen car worth $300. Mrs. John E. Hornberger of Littlestown was treated at Warner hospital for a fractured left arm after a fall.

Flan Rally Of Church Workers Planned In New Oxford
The fourth district Adams County Council of Christian Education maps an adult rally for Sun day School workers at St Pauls Evangelical and Reformed in New Oxford on Sunday afternoon November 23. Rev Arthur Leeming Hoff man orphanage superintendent will speak with special music by the church choir. C P Keefer district adult superintendent presides. The district pledges $75 to county Sunday School and Bi monthly exec meetings begin with December 8 at Hampton Reformed Church.

Lieut Joseph H Riley formerly of Gettysburg was injured Friday in a fog swept crash on a wet Danville Virginia road en route from Carlisle Barracks to Fort Benning Georgia He sustained chipped vertebrae and was hospitalized Riley’s fellow officer escaped with bruises and continued to Fort Benning He is expected to be moved soon to Walter Reed hospital in Washington

Warner Hospital of Gettysburg has been added to the official approved list of hospitals by the American College of Surgeons for 1941. The official notice will be issued at the 24th annual hospital standardization conference in Boston Monday morning. Dr. Bruce N. Wolff attended the meeting as part of the Warner hospital surgical staff.

Mrs. E. S. Lewars announced the appointment of Mrs. LeRoy H. Winebrenner of Gettysburg as vice chairman of the Adams County Red Cross chapter. She fills the post left by the resignation of Mrs. Donald P. McPherson, also of Gettysburg. The former officer served since World War I days. Winebrenner has led the county chapter’s clothing production program since September 1939 and has long been an active member and roll call helper.

State motor police recovered the automobile of Winston Charles Painter of Biglerville R. 1. It had been reported stolen Friday and was found Sunday three miles east of Bonneauville along the Hanover road, abandoned and out of fuel.
