Adams county shows production valuation rising by 13 percent from 1933 to 1934 and wages and salaries increasing about 19 percent. Industrial plants number 103 with 4,889 total employees. capital investment hits nearly 6 million. Leather and rubber products dominate with more than 40 percent of output including 4,501,200 shoes and 4,816,600 from the class.
In Straban township, Letters of administration on Myrtle L. Lerew’s estate were issued to her daughter Margaret A. Sanders in the register’s office. The estate is valued at 4000 dollars. The will of Lizzie Wherley Fraver of Mt. Joy township was entered to probate by daughter Edna Miller as executrix. The estate is valued at 1250 dollars.
In the Orphans Court petition by William S. Menges the court is asked to declare George D. Menges a presumed decedent. The hearing is set for June 17, 1935 at 10:00 A.M. in the Gettysburg courthouse to confirm absence and related real estate ownership in New Oxford. C. F. Palmer, Clerk. Fairfield 6, New Oxford 4. Doyle Robert, 17, Fairfield catcher from Orrville, crushed finger by a pitched ball. He was taken to Warner hospital for X rays. Oliver Marshall pitched well with 13 strikeouts as Kittinger hit a homer and two extra base hits to lead Fairfield’s victory.
Irishtown defeated Centennial 4 to 3 on Sunday afternoon as William H. Smith Irishtown manager homered in the effort.
Nine Gettysburg and Adams county residents were arrested on drunkenness and disorderly conduct by Gettysburg police Saturday afternoon and evening. The arrestees included Belford Speelman Lloyd Speelman Joseph T. Galbraith S J Bobo J E Cullison Jesse Cullers Augustus Fleshman Norris Jacobs and Stanley Marshall. All but Fleshman Jacobs and Marshall paid fines of one dollar and costs before Justice John C. Shealer.
An assumpsit suit for 46595 with interest from August 12, 1934 was filed Monday in the office of S. L. Allison prothonotary. The defendant pair are Gilbert E. Hoffman and William T. Timmins doing business as Hoffman and Timmins beer distributors of Gettysburg. Eugene V. Bullett of Gettysburg represents the plaintiff.
