A 1877 reminiscence recalls starting in groceries, enduring a sheriff eviction, assembling 15 workers to reclaim stock, paying significant interest on debts, clearing unpaid accounts, and selling to H. W. Atler Co. while continuing to learn buying and selling.
Local notices list merchants and buyers across multiple townships including Mountpleasant New Oxford Latimore and Reading with dates marching in mid March. Items range from wool gear rope and mill goods to farm equipment and implements.
The Silver Lake Male Quartette will perform at Miller's Hall New Oxford on Saturday evening March 15 1902. The program includes Old Melodies Familiar Songs Imitation Songs vocal and instrumental selections as well as duets and readings. Reserved seats available at Millers Hardware Store.
A meeting of the New Oxford Cemetery Association lot holders will be held in the room of H. K Schoel in New Oxford on Saturday March 15 1902 at 2 o'clock p m. Baltimore report from March 12 says Isaac Melly a four year old boy was described in statements by his wife and a police report as suddenly stricken and unable to speak while cursing and blaspheming. Isaac Melly reportedly choked trembled and groaned as he attempted speech. John Kelly, arrested on the wife’s complaint, claimed his wife was threatened and intoxicated during the incident.
Harrisburg dispatch reports Jerry Murray and John Hill, both miners at the Likens colliery in Williamstown, were smothered to death when a thaw weakened a mass in a separator and coal rushed in. Rescue attempts failed as dust fell and covered them before help arrived.
West Point first class of 54 cadets under the Department of Engineering will march from West Point on April 10 to Gettysburg for three days of instruction in strategy and tactics. After completion they will return, the journey beginning April 13, with time allotted entirely to study.

Henry T. Crook, Asheville Gasette pressman, says Cham berlain's Pain Balm cured his rheumatism after a winter of pain from wet feet. He bought it from Randolph Webchler and reported his symptoms vanished after using a portion of the bottle.
Executor of Elizabeth M Fick s estate offers property by order of the orphans court at a public sale on the premises. London reports General Lord Methuen and four guns captured by General Delarey during a march near Lichtenburg. Casualties include three British officers and 38 men killed, 72 wounded, 200 missing. Kitchener dispatch notes heavy fighting and confusion among Boers wearing British uniforms.
March 12 The entire family of farmer L P Scone near Sisston South Dakota died or are dying from escaping coal gas. Scone and three men were last seen Saturday night. A neighbor found the family unconscious in bed yesterday. A doctor treated the daughters but they died. the son and wife were revived but not expected to live.
