Adams County boards exhaust tire and tube quotas for February

Adams County rationing boards report February tire and tube shortages for passenger cars and light trucks. Board No. 1 issued most February allotments but left truck tires and tubes unused. Board No. 2 issued all passenger and most truck tires with some tubes remaining. March quotas increase to 18 tires and 15 tubes per board for passenger vehicles. truck allocations also rise.

Stamp sales were up more than $400 from January with defense stamps totaling $3,084.55 at the local post office and a countywide total of $3,492 reported. Other post offices and banks are selling bonds, but no county aggregate figures are yet available.

Commissioners approve a 1942 budget of 59 480 with expected receipts and cash on hand at 74 963, funded by a continuation of the three mill tax. The plan includes 18 000 for remodeling county home infirmary space and 5 000 for new equipment, plus a projected end year balance over 15 000 despite pay raises. Tax receipts are estimated at about 47 000.
