New Oxford borough plans mosquito and insect spraying by Agretors Inc. between June 30 and July 7. The helicopter operation, weather permitting, is slated for Monday July 3 starting at daybreak and lasting two to three hours. The DDT oil base spray is safe for fabrics plants and autos except washed garments.

John F. Duttera Jr. 18 of 121 Lincolnway East New Oxford suffered head injury and body bruises after his 1954 Ford collided with a Pensupreme tractor trailer driven by George W Leeds 45 of Lancaster on Rt 30 about six thirty Monday evening. Duttera was taken to Warner Hospital. damage to the Ford was total and the trailer damage estimated at 250 dollars.
Delmar Food Service Corp of Baltimore sued three Adams County couples for nonpayment on home freezers. The action seeks $1,483.20 plus interest and costs. Contracts dated in August and September called for $1,059 delivered price, $81.77 sales tax, and $392.43 finance charges, to be paid in 38 monthly installments of $41.28. none were paid.

A donkey baseball game is scheduled for July 1 at 9 pm in Raritan Park, Hunterstown. The community event invites residents to watch the lighthearted match and support local activities.
Manufacturers Light and Heat Company workers are renewing gas lines in Carlisle Street and Golden Lane New Oxford. A six inch line on Golden Lane and a four inch line on Carlisle Street replace older two and four inch lines, with future tie ins and a revamped regulator station. No service interruption occurred.

Warren Krall enlisted in the Air Force. his brother Laverac pursues Penn State summer study. Moonlight Chesapeake Bay cruise drew about seven locals. Bermudian Church of the Brethren Women’s Fellowship will visit Crippled Children’s Hospital on July 3. East Belt Post Office will close July 4.
The Borough Council warns citizens to clear all lots of rubbish and brush by July 1. If owners fail, the council will perform the work and bill the property owner for costs.
County commissioners approved plans for a new Kohler's Mill bridge over Conewago near New Oxford. The 22 foot wide structure will have two 48 foot prestressed concrete spans with bids advertised to open July 26 after a meeting with Architect Julius Wells. Also discussed were property assessment changes and bail money forfeiture procedures. The annual courthouse picnic was scheduled for July 12 at Caledonia.
The Conewago Fire Company will host its annual picnic on Saturday July 1 at the Fire Company grounds in Edge Grove. Fried chicken and roast beef suppers will be served in the fire hall priced 1.25 for adults and 65 cents for children with carry out available. Supper hours run 4 to 5 p.m. Musical entertainment includes Mrs Mary Groft on the organ and her daughter Jeanne on the accordion.
Police report two Hanover drivers Gabriel Cromer 21 and Kathaleen Amidy 22 side swiped on a narrow road from Hanover Cross Keys to Lancolan Speedway Monday evening. Damage estimated at 20 to Cromer car and 50 to Amidy vehicle. No injuries reported.
The Lower Adams PTA announces a Summer Reading Club at Peters St Elementary School Library starting Friday July 7 for six Fridays from 1 to 3 pm. Story hour 1 to 2 pm led by six teachers. 2 to 3 pm book selection. Children may borrow two books weekly. 10 books earns a certificate. Scout helpers assist. open to all local elementary pupils including preschoolers.
The Hunterstown Raritan Club outlines committees for a Saturday chicken barbecue and donkey ball game at a park near Hunterstown to aid park development. The barbecue committee includes Shirley Machimes and Francis Sterner among others. game tickets are run by Herbert Blye and others. Emory Sites handles parking as the club seeks funds for a picnic pavilion and to clear remaining indebtedness on the 12 acre site purchased in 1957 for county use. County residents are invited to attend. cash donations are welcomed.
A summer recreation program for York Springs area children ages five to thirteen opens at York Springs Elementary School daily from 9 to 12. Five days a week for six weeks. The fee is two cents. The playground and program are overseen by Miss Esther Lary.
The July meeting of the New Onfound borough will be held Monday July 3 at 8 o clock in the borough office on N Bolton Street.
The Adams County Board of School Directors approved district budgets for the coming year totaling over 1.5 million dollars. Budgets for Bermudian Springs Fairfield Littlestown and Lower Adams joint districts sum to 1,501,060 up from 1,455,798 last year. New Oxford merged district budget is 448,480, with components for Berwick and Conewago townships and others.
Aero Oil Company will fund a doctors locker room on Warn er Hospital’s new surgical floor with a 4800 subscription to a 350000 building fund. A plaque will mark the room bearing the inscription Gift of Aero Oil Company and Employer. Richard W. Livingston cited prior Aero contributions to 1955 and 1957 hospital appeals, noting this third gift is the largest via employee participation.
Two young women were slightly injured in a Hanover automobile accident at 12 15 p m last Wednesday. Total damage estimated at 2375 dollars. Joann Humbert 22 of New Oxford and Thelma Sieg 23 Hanover R 5 treated at Hanover General Hospital and released. Drivers were Sallie M Bentzel 20 Hanover R 5 and Robert C Young 24 Hanover both injured women were in Bentzel car. The car sideswiped a pole on Schultz's Used Car Lot struck a used car pushed it into another parked vehicle then went through a fence into a field on Howard Wetzel property.
The two week Daily Vacation Church School sponsored by Protestant Churches of New Oxford ends Friday. June W. will attend a picnic at 1 am and a public program in the evening. Friday schedule includes an informal handwork display at St Pauls United Church of Christ at 7 pm and a formal program at 7 30 pm. Sixty pupils have been enrolled with a staff of 31 teachers helpers and pastors.
A wristwatch found near the New Oxford Junior Baseball League diamond was turned in at the office. The finder may claim it by calling the office and verifying ownership.

Abbottstown residents face a new water ordinance effective July 1, 1961. The first 3,000 gallons cost $11.00, next 4,000 gallons $1.10 per 1000 gallons, and over 7,000 gallons $0.82 per 1000. A $50 connection fee and $25 meter fee apply as the council approves water system improvements.
Deputy District Governor William Lau installed the newly elected officers of the New Oxford Lions Club at the Altland House in Abbottstown. Officers installed were Ralph N. Duncan president Donald Kemp first vice president C William Noel second vice president Charles L. Edwards third vice president Giles B. Staub secretary Henry J. Stock treasurer Lloyd Stock lion tamer Robert Donohue tail visitor and A P Markel William D Stock and Clair W Rohrbaugh directors for two years.
Lincoln Speedway hosts the Firecracker 100 100-lap late model feature Saturday night with entries including Dick Petty son of Lee Petty Jim Reed and Buck Baker. Two 10-lap heats precede the main event and ABA track regulars race for the Sportsman Modified lead with Bobby Hersh. An arc light session for SM and strictly stockers follows Monday July 3.
The Adams County Retired School Teachers Association met June 17 at the Pines Parish House near New Chester with thirty members and guests attending. Prof. C. P. Keffer of New Oxford gave the address. officers chosen for the year are President George Wehler Thomasville secretary Beulah Wentz East Berlin and treasurer G Blaine Bushey Arendtsville. The next meeting is set for October with the Adams County Teachers Institute.
Marguerite Wagaman, 25, of Abbottstown R. 1, was charged with failing to obey a traffic signal after a two car crash in Hanover. Wagaman's vehicle struck Orington Laughman, 62, Hanover R. 5, who was northbound on High Street attempting to cross the intersection. Damage was estimated at 40 dollars to Wagaman and 700 dollars to Laughman. Charge filed before Justice Dayne E. Garrett.

Straban and Mt. Pleasant school boards at their year end meeting refused to exonerate Tax Collector Donald Rhodes from collecting 1960 and 1961 school taxes on John J. Reimer. Taxes on the property were paid to Mt. Pleasant Two though lie near the Straban line, due to county assessor listings in both townships. Rhodes may seek refund from Mt. Pleasant district and the board noted the same issue exists for 1961 taxes. Several hundred exonerations were granted for other errors and deceased or relocated persons. A new bus contract with Paul Metz, R. G., was approved. meeting held at secretary O. H. Wilson’s home with President Ralph W. Guise. All members except Herbert Blye attended due to illness.
Final preparations complete for the Immaculate Conception Parish second annual picnic on Saturday July 1 at the Adams County Fairgrounds between Abbottstown and East Berlin. Entertainment features include the nationally famous Bell Accordion Symphony three time national winners and television performers. Other acts for all ages and a barbecue chicken menu will be offered rain or shine with co chairmen Ross Topper and Frank Breiner leading planning efforts.
The Rev John L Eagle, newly elected pastor of First Lutheran Church New Oxford, will assume the pastorate Sunday. He previously led the Fort Landon St Thomas Lutheran Charge and graduated Gettysburg Seminary in 1958. Installation July 16 with Rev Dr Marlin C Bottinger of Central Penn Synod. The Eagle family moves to the Lincolnway East parsonage Friday.
