Peaches to Lead Fruit Yields at County Meeting
State fruit growers heard reports on crop prospects with peaches expected to top others and sour cherries likely light. Apple prospects varied with some orchards heavier than last fall while others were lighter. Experts urged continued spraying and pest control as pests like codling moths curculios and piston case bearers threaten the 1940 crop. The meeting at Hershey noted the death of William L. Minick and invited all to the Appalachian Apples gathering in Hershey on Saturday.
