Spangler Home Damaged By Fire Near Gettysburg

Fire damaged the home of Russell M. Spangler along the Hunterstown road last Thursday afternoon. The blaze started in a first floor front room at a desk with a radio and an electric light. Firefighters believe a lightning strike that sent current via the radio aerial caused the ignition. Neighbors alerted others and fire units battled through walls to extinguish flames. Tax records were removed from the desk before the fire.
