Arlan Reynolds a New Oxford Senior was elected president of the Adams Franklin Counties Area FFA at a Chambersburg High School meeting. He succeeds Merle Snyder and is active in the New Oxford FFA and chicken of tomorrow contest. Calvin Manahan was named Vice President with Earl Harbaugh as second vice president.
The Hampton Fire Company will host a two night carnival on June 10 and 11 featuring crab cake platters soup and various sandwiches Friday night entertainment by Uncle Mack's One Man Band and TV and Radio group. Ham suppers with trimmings served Saturday night with further sandwiches. Ice cream soda pie and cake available both nights. The Emigsville Band and chorus perform Saturday night with games and activities for all attendees.
Vacation church school for New Oxford and nearby community runs June 13 to 24. Program aims to teach Bible lessons through activities for children and families in the New Oxford area.

Elisabeth W. Wolgamuth Shellenberger 76 widow of Henry died 8 30 p m at home East Berlin heart ailment after two weeks illness. Survived by six children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was member of Holtzschwamm Union Church. Funeral held 2 p m Wednesday at Emig Funeral Home East Berlin. Burial Holtzschwamm Union Cemetery with pallbearers including her sons and sons-in-law.
Four people died when Glenn C. Bream 42 president of Gettysburg Motors piloted a four place Cessna 170 into an isolated area near Mount Pleasant R.D. at about 6 30 Memorial Day night. Also killed were Lloyd E. Geiman and his wife of Hanover and Roy E. Lambert of Taneytown all returning from Indianapolis after attending the Memorial Day 500 mile race. The wrecked craft and injured survivors were found after a severe electrical storm. Funeral services are set for Gettysburg.

The forty third annual commencement at New Oxford Junior Senior High School is set for Tuesday at 8 o clock in the school auditorium. The program features processional pomp and ceremony, invocation by Rev A C Rohrbaugh, overture The Enchanted Canyon, welcome by Richard Herr, trumpet trio, address by Henry Leader, York, senior ensemble, class gift by William Korver, diplomas awarded by Charles Taylor, and benediction by Rev Dr G E Sheffer. Baccalaureate is Sunday at the Methodist Church and the Senior class will trip to New York City June 8. The McSherrystown Fire Co hosts a two day block party starting 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday with games hay rides and refreshments. Friday features turtle soup crab cakes and Delone Catholic High School band. Saturday offers roast chicken and trimmings and New Oxford High School band. Admission is 1.25 for adults and 0 for children. soup and sandwiches on sale. Everyone invited to enjoy and support the fire company.
The annual memorial services at The Pines near New Chester will be held this Saturday evening starting with a parade at 7 o'clock. Claude Meckley Hanover postmaster will deliver the evening address. After services a festival will follow with music by the York Springs High School Band. All veterans are invited to join the parade.
The community extends thanks to Theo Pfeiffer Camp 60, Sons of Union Voters for organizing Memorial Day activities. The parade inspired hundreds of visitors and the services left a deep impression. Congress man James T. Quigley delivered a masterful oration.
Duke E Wolf of Harrisburg filed for divorce from Mac E Wolf of Harrisburg in Dauphin County Court. They married December 28, 1937 in New Oxford.

Firefighter John Murren spotted smoke from Roy Garber’s barn near New Oxford and alerted crews who saved the converted chicken house with hay storage. The blaze caused only charred boards and hay damage. cause undetermined. A second chimney fire at Raymond Smith’s home caused no damage.
Mrs. Anna Mae Bready of Lancaster dies after brief illness at St Joseph's Hospital. Wife of Rev Dr Guy P. Bready supply pastor of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church Marietta. Born in Lancaster she was formerly widow of Dr Homer D Leh Hampton. Survived by husband daughter Mary Ellen Leh and three sisters.
Several New Oxford High School students received honors at the annual senior awards assembly held Thursday afternoon. Gold basketballs were given to team members who earned second place in the Adams County League: George Spangler James Haverstick and letters to Richard Sipe Charles Sherman William Little Donald Wiseman Welby Snyder Lynn Dickinson and Jan Sponseller.
Mr and Mrs Harry A Harman of Mummasburg named as steward and matron at the Church of the Brethren home Cross Keys. They will reside at Cross Keys while serving the 52 residents with a staff of 73.

Two Sterner's Grocery employees in Hanover face embezzlement charges for about $4000 in store funds. Harold J. Bankert Jr. and Leona M. Hamm are named in warrants issued by Justice George A. Lippy. Bankert's car was abandoned in York. authorities suspect they are traveling in Hamm's 1953 model vehicle.
Abbottstown's Emmanuel's Evangelical and Re formed Church will hold Sunday dedication services for its new educational facilities at 10 15 a m. Pastor A C Rohrbaugh leads the church with Rev James Mover presiding as president of Mercersburg Synod. The eight month building project finished with renovations.
