Hemminger, Mrs. Rife, and Mrs. Florence Acker. Pvt. Vernon A. Hast of New Oxford is noted in the context of committee involvement.
Donald E. Groft Aviation Machinist’s Mate second class USNR R 1 New Oxford has returned from a World War II tour in the United Kingdom. He completed eight combat missions as a machine gunner aboard a Navy PBY Catalina with Patrol Squadron Sixty Three over European waters. Groft 23 is son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles I. Groft of Berlin Junction. He spent 17 months overseas. The Always Faithful class of the First Lutheran church will not meet.
Three 16 year old boys from Hanover are in state police custody after allegedly admitting participation in a string of thefts around Hanover. Police say one confessed to stealing from 12 to 15 cars. others reportedly admitted stealing from cars and clothing at Alwine brick yard near New Oxford. The heists occurred over the last two weekends in June, with items including money, a wrist watch, and pocketbooks. The youths will appear in juvenile court.

OPA announced a nationwide check on tire dealer compliance for the new record keeping plan. The 125th General Hospital at Blandford Camp Dorset England completed its mission after treating 5675 soldiers in Europe. Pfc. George L. Hale 23 surgical technician from York Springs helped operate the unit which trained at Camp Ellis and arrived from Liverpool on August 2 1944 aboard the Mauretania. The hospital was commanded by Colonel C B Perkins of Seattle WA and focused on brain and nerve surgery. The last patient left June 1 returning to the United States.

The war department later notified his parents he was missing in action He was born October 17 1917 and was an only child They mention his church and school affiliations and surviving relatives
