John Hersh began mail route duties to York Springs. Wm D Emeret found dead in stable. coroner’s jury listed. Officer Smith fired at would be robbers at Bond’s coach shop and Clippenger’s henhouse. Students from Shippensburg on summer vacations at home. Mrs Michael Hoffheins fell from a cherry tree and was unconscious. Grace wife of Robert Thompson died aged 20. Infant Harry E son of J Addison and Lizzie Dundose died.

Also notes on a beer garden at New Central Hotel and a sale of used cars from Helff Nails Motors with multiple 1920s and 1930s models listed.

Biesecker resigns due to ill health while Wingert previously ran the Carlisle Street outlet. Richard Gormley now manages the American store on Carlisle Street.
C A Williams of Gettysburg is named postmaster succeeding John H Eckert after a bond of 20000 was filed with the Postmaster General James Farley. Eckert, in service 33 years, retires after his term ended March 12 1932.
Adams county issued 147 marriage licenses in the first half of the year, up 43 from the previous year. April and June led with 35 licenses each, while January and May had 22, February 21, and March 12 licenses.
Aaron W. Kinneman found an exhausted homing pigeon in his garden with leg bands 353H and 587 I F 31 F H C. An infant of Mr and Mrs Howard Markle of Hanover was buried in Lutheran cemetery. Quettysburg Gas bought Kinneman’s plot east of Abbottstown for a dispensing station. The state’s road work age is grading borough sidewalks. Marguerite Glandfelter, ill for months, has relapsed. Charles Auchey near town is seriously ill with heart trouble. Robert G W Emig near town dislocated his left shoulder pushing a wagon from the barn.
Dr Bruce N Wolff son of Dr and Mrs W E Wolff of Arendtsville has finished his internship at Harrisburg hospital and will stand for the state medical board examination about July first. After passing he will join Dr J McCrea Dickson in his practice.
The five cent loaf was eliminated, replaced by a seven cent loaf weighing 9 to 15 ounces. The eight cent loaf will also change price, not yet announced. Increases in flour and lard cited as cause. A further bread price rise expected around July 9 with a 30 cent per bushel wheat tax.
Adams county farm agent M T Martman urged farmers to wage war on chinch bugs harming small grains and corn. After harvest, bugs migrate to corn fields. plowing a deep furrow and placing tar can halt their movement. Adults are about one fifth inch with black bodies. nymphs are yellowish red darkening with age.
Hampton remained without power after a severe storm hit around 4 p.m. Sunday plunging the area into darkness until about midnight. Local crews worked to restore electricity and assess storm damage across the city.

McSparran state secretary of agriculture will be principal speaker at a mass meeting in St James Lutheran church Gettysburg on July 12 at oclock The meeting launches the Adar county committee campaign against repeal of the eighteenth amendment Rev L B Wafer chairman said Details of the program will be announced later
